STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) — Ross Rivera scored a career-high 15 points, and Pacific made Bob Thomason the most successful coach in Big West Conference history with a 65-57 victory over Utah State on Saturday night.
Thomason, in his 24th season coaching his alma mater, recorded his 406th win at Pacific, one more than Jerry Tarkanian had at UNLV and Long Beach State. Thomason and Tarkanian are the only Big West coaches with more than 300 victories.
The Tigers (3-3) recorded their first win this season over a Division I opponent. Pacific, which returned no starters from last year, used its sixth different starting lineup in six games.
Lorenzo McCloud had 14 points for Pacific, which returns only two players from last year’s 16-15 team.
Preston Medlin led Utah State (3-4) with 15 points and eight rebounds.
