ST. IGNACE, Mich. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says searchers have found the wreckage of a single-engine chartered plane that crashed in northern Michigan, killing the two men on board.
The plane left St. Ignace in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on Saturday night, bound for Mackinac Island. The Coast Guard’s Cleveland office says the plane failed to arrive as expected about 8 p.m. Saturday.
The Coast Guard says searchers found the wreckage Sunday afternoon on the Lake Huron shore, three miles north of St. Ignace.
A Michigan State Police statement identifies the men as 52-year-old Thomas Phillips of Kirkland, Wash., and Mackinac Island and 29-year-old Joseph Pann Jr. of St. Ignace.
