Letter: The opportunity may not come again

The Columbian
Published: December 3, 2011, 4:00pm

I am disappointed in Clark County Commissioner Marc Boldt’s decision to oppose the baseball stadium, as reported in the Nov. 30 Columbian story “Baseball proposal strikes out.” It is particularly striking when he said “Right now … I can’t support it.” It isn’t as though this opportunity appears on a frequent basis. We may not see another chance in a generation or more. The deal and the economic climate may not have been perfect, but probably never will be. There may never be a “right” time.

Sometimes you have to be bold and take a chance to do something special for the city and county. Also, it appears many members of the Vancouver City Council lacked the courage needed to advance this issue.
