PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The family and friends of a slain Portland girl observed what would have been her 15th birthday Sunday at Rocky Butte.

KGW reports (http://is.gd/jdXWVv) they left flowers, balloons and birthday cards for Yashanee Vaughn just a few hundred yards from where her body was found in July in a shallow grave.

She had disappeared four months earlier. Her former boyfriend is charged with murder.
