Texas-San Antonio defeats Samford 74-52

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Kannon Burrage scored all 16 of his points in a big second half for Texas-San Antonio in the Roadrunners’ 74-52 win over Samford on Monday night.

Burrage was 6 of 8 from the field in the second half, helping UTSA to 76-percent shooting after the break (19 of 25).

The Roadrunners (5-4) scored the first nine points of the second half, including a layup by Jeromie Hill, to go up 35-27. Then, a layup and a long jumper by Burrage, and a Franklin layup made it 43-30 with 13:29 to play.

Hill led four Roadrunners in double figures with 20 points. Alex Vouyoukas added 11 and Stephen Franklin 10 for UTSA, which outscored the Bulldogs 48-25 in the second half.

The Roadrunners shot a season-high 60 percent (30 of 50).

Will Cook scored 15 points to lead Samford (1-5), which shot 32.1 percent from the field (17 of 53).
