LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith won the sixth round of team roping Tuesday night and remained on pace to break the aggregate record at the National Finals Rodeo.
Brazile, of Decatur, Texas, and Smith of Midland, Texas, had a time of 3.5 seconds and lead the NFR aggregate standings at 29.8. They are closing on the 10-round competion’s record of 59.1, set by Jake Barnes and Clay O’Brien Cooper in 1994.
In bull riding, Shane Proctor of Grand Coulee, Wash., tied for third with an 86 on Blue Cannon and increased his world standings lead over J.W. Harris. Chandler Bownds of Lubbock, Texas, won the round with an 89 on Crystal Springs Peach.
Bobby Mote (bareback riding), Jake Rinehart (steer wrestling), Tyler Corrington (saddle bronc riding), Ryan Jarrett (tie-down roping) and Sherry Cervi (barrel racing) also won the sixth round of their events.
