Andresen/St. Johns — Ten area elementary schools received the promise of a $1,000 grant from Wells Fargo & Co. at a principals’ breakfast hosted by Wells Fargo on Nov. 9. During the breakfast, bank employees presented ceremonial checks to educators in Battle Ground, Vancouver and Washougal schools with one stipulation: no strings attached. Each principal will decide how to best use the money. The selected schools have a large number of students from low-income families. The schools that will receive the grants are: Crestline, Fruit Valley, Hazel Dell, Hough, King, Mill Plain, Orchards and Washington in Vancouver; Maple Grove Primary in Battle Ground; and Hathaway Elementary in Washougal.
