A Clark County Jail inmate that attempted to commit suicide on Dec. 2 is in critical condition at a local hospital, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Benjamin D. Cripe, 21, of Woodland attempted to hang himself in his cell at the jail using a bed sheet around 3 p.m. Friday.

Other inmates found Cripe and told custody officers, who responded to the cell and performed CPR on him, Sgt. Scott Schanaker said in an e-mail.

Cripe was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition on Thursday, hospital spokesman Ken Cole said.

Cripe was arrested on Nov. 30 for an outstanding Felony Warrant issued by the Department of Corrections for probation violation, Schanaker said.
