Battle Ground — Each December, Elks lodges across the nation hold candlelight ceremonies honoring deceased members. The Battle Ground Elks Lodge’s memorial service on Dec. 7 honored 201 deceased members, 27 Ladies of the Elks, and lodge veterans. The service is a reminder to the living that their members will never be forgotten. Kay Beasley, a member for more than 50 years and widow of an Elk officer, has served as the coordinator of the service for more than 20 years.
