Mayor appoints VHA commissioners

VANCOUVER — Maudie Jordan was sworn in Wednesday as Vancouver Housing Authority resident commissioner.

Jordan was appointed by Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt, who also re-appointed Ronald K. Kawamoto to a third five-year term on the VHA’s Board of Commissioners.

The resident commissioner serves as liaison to the VHA’s Resident Advisory Board.

Jordan is the executive director of Gates of Grace, an organization with two transitional homes for women and children. She also is the mentor and fundraising coordinator for Transitions to Life, a program which assists women after incarceration.

Kawamoto has been a commercial real estate broker for the firm Norris Beggs & Simpson for 21 years.
