Dayton 53, Columbia River 47 — In a battle of unbeaten teams at the Capital City Classic at The Hoop in Salem, Ore., Dayton (Ore.) held off the Chieftains.

“We played them tough, just had too many turnovers in the third quarter,” River coach David Long said.

Dayton, the No. 1-ranked Class 3A team in Oregon, went on a 9-0 run to erase a five-point deficit and then held off River the rest of the way.

Isaiah Smith led all scorers with 27 points. He also had 10 rebounds. Devin Bolds also had 10 rebounds for River.

COLUMBIA RIVER (7-2) — Devin Bolds 3, Rian Bassett 5, John Hanberg 10, Chad Love 2, Curtis Shuck 0, Mack Stromme 0, Isaiah Smith 27. Totals 18 7-12 47.
