Law enforcement, including police in Camas and Washougal, will be conducting extra patrols in Clark County through Jan. 2 in an effort to target people who are driving under the influence.
DUI patrols will be working on county roads, state routes, and city streets during this holiday period as part of the state’s “Target Zero” traffic safety program.
“It is my sincere desire that we get through the upcoming holiday week without any tragedies on our roadways,” said Washington State Patrol District 5 Captain Ron Rupke. “We will have extra troopers out to assist the public during this busy time and to remove any impaired drivers from our highways.”
Officers from Battle Ground, Camas, La Center, Ridgefield, and Washougal Police Departments, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol have committed to extra patrol hours as part of Washington’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan to reduce traffic fatalities to zero by the year 2030.
