Colts expect to play for win, not for No. 1 pick

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Some Colts fans believe the only real advantage from this lost season is getting the No. 1 draft pick.

Players and coaches take a different approach to Sunday’s season finale at Jacksonville. They’re after a third straight victory, no matter the ramifications.

A win would allow Indianapolis (2-13) to avoid posting its first losing record ever against AFC South teams, losing twice in a season to the same team for the first time since 2007, or getting swept by a division foe since 2002.

Two years ago, after clinching the AFC’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs, the Colts rested the starters the last two weeks and threw away the chance for a perfect season.

Those who covet the No. 1 pick think Indy should do the same thing now.
