PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A series of storms is expected to hit western Oregon through the end of the week, bringing high winds, heavy rain and rising creeks and rivers.
The National Weather Service says the storms could bring 6 to 10 inches of rain in the mountains, and 2 to 4 inches in the Willamette Valley by Saturday. Farther south, the forecasters expect 5 to 10 inches of rain in Curry and western Josephine counties through Friday.
Heavy winds are expected along the coast Wednesday, with gusts to 70 mph.
A cold front is expected to follow on Friday. Forecasters say snow will fall, mostly at higher elevations, in northwest Oregon. But snow levels are expected to fall to below pass levels. So, snow-covered roads are possible Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
