Texas State routs NAIA’s Huston-Tillotson 99-47

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Brooks Ybarra scored 20 points in 15 minutes of playing time Wednesday night as Texas State-San Marcos routed Huston-Tillotson 99-47.

The Bobcats (7-5) emptied their bench early against Huston-Tillotson, an NAIA school. Reserves Eddie Rios and John Bowman added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for Texas State, which shot 56 percent from the field and outrebounded the Rams 53-34.

Huston-Tillotson (0-9) was led by Lance Richardson with nine points. The Rams shot 23 percent from the field, hit just 3 of 20 3-point attempts and turned the ball over 19 times.

Texas State scored the first 13 points of the game, led 44-22 at halftime and reached their biggest lead when Jordan Kirschke hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left in the game to round out the scoring.
