ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey’s weightlifting federation says former Olympic champion Nurcan Taylan failed a drug test and faces a likely ban from the London Games.

Federation head Hasan Akkus said Taylan tested positive Oct. 26 and a second test confirmed the finding. He wouldn’t disclose the banned substance.

The 28-year-old Taylan must now defend herself at the International Weightlifting Federation, which could impose a four-year ban.

Taylan won a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. She set a world record in the 48-kilogram class of the clean and jerk at last year’s world championships.
