SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — David Condon has been sworn in as the new mayor of Spokane, the state’s second largest city.
Condon was sworn in Friday morning in Riverfront Park. He replaces Mary Verner, who became the city’s 10th consecutive one-term mayor.
Condon says his first priority is public safety and he wants to improve the police force.
Condon is a former staff member for U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a Republican who represents the Spokane area in Congress. He becomes Spokane’s 44th mayor.
