OLALLA, Wash. (AP) — A Kitsap County couple is facing animal cruelty charges after 173 animals were seized from their 5-acre property.
The Kitsap Sun reports that Simon and Rosalind Bailey of Olalla are accused of hoarding animals and not providing enough water or sanitary living conditions for them.
An anonymous tip had alerted authorities and the local Humane Society about the farm. On Nov. 10, rescue crews from the Kitsap Humane Society seized the animals. They were mostly rabbits, chickens and ducks, but also more exotic animals like quail and alpacas.
Second-degree animal cruelty is a gross misdemeanor. If convicted, the Baileys could face up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
