OSP supervisor pleads to meth possession, resigns

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon State Police trooper who was once in charge of the force’s Portland office has resigned after pleading guilty to two counts of possession of methamphetamine.

Malcolm Lewis was a 23-year veteran of the state police when state police launched an investigation in July.

The 47-year-old Lewis pleaded guilty Thursday to the drug possession and official misconduct charges. He joined the state police in November 1988.

He has been sentenced in Washington County Circuit Court to 18 months probation and community service.

Lewis could not be reached for comment on Friday.

Lewis was a patrol sergeant in North Plains before being transferred to supervisor of the Portland office.

While there, information emerged regarding possible misconduct and he was placed on paid leave until his resignation.
