Talking Points: Tweet of the year candidate

The Columbian
Published: December 31, 2011, 4:00pm

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Candidate for Tweet of the Year came from Seattle writer Art Thiel (@Art_Thiel) following the Huskies 67-56 loss to Baylor in the Alamo Bowl on Thursday:

“UWHuskies D coordinator Holt breaks N. American mark for most yardage given up (old mark: France, Louisiana Purchase)”

There was probably more good than bad that came out of the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Saturday in San Francisco.

The bad would definitely be UCLA losing to Illinois to take a 6-8 record back to SoCal. (Illinois doesn’t have much to brag about though.)

The good would be in the bowl’s name. For each ticket sold, the game generated three meals for Bay Area food banks. That came out to 89,634 meals.
