MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Washington state troopers say a 22-year-old man is accused of causing a six-vehicle pileup and then running from the scene of the crash north of Marysville.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports that the man’s car struck a barrier and bounced into traffic, hitting a semi truck and starting a pileup of four other cars Tuesday morning.

State Patrol trooper Keith Leary says the driver then ran into nearby woods, and was arrested. Leary says the driver did not have a valid license.

Leary says the driver was taken to a hospital before he was booked into Snohomish County Jail, and that minor injuries were reported from the other vehicles.

He says speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.
