Nicholls State cruises to 72-52 victory

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Fred Hunter snagged a double-double, scoring 26 points and pulling down 13 rebounds, as Nicholls State cruised to a 72-52 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday night.

The Colonels (11-8, 5-3 Southland) went into halftime up 26-21 and then pulled out of reach in the second half on 56.3 percent shooting from the field. They led by as many as 22 points midway through the half.

Anatoly Bose chipped in with 12 points for the Colonels in their first-ever win against the Islanders (8-14, 3-5).

Demond Watt led Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with 16 points while Horace Bond added nine. The Islanders shot 43.6 percent from the field.
