LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas judge says he’s “heartbroken” his 29-year-old son has been arrested in the brazen gunpoint robbery of $1.5 million in casino chips from the posh Bellagio resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge George Assad said Thursday he can’t say much more about the arrest of Anthony M. Carleo.
Police say Carleo was the motorcycle helmet-wearing bandit who waved a gun, grabbed high-value casino chips and made off on a motorcycle before dawn Dec. 14.
A person familiar with the investigation tells The Associated Press that Carleo was arrested late Wednesday at the Bellagio during an undercover police investigation.
Jail records show Carleo is jailed under the last name Assad pending court on Monday. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
