Sacramento State defeats Portland State 63-55

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — John Dickson had 16 points and eight rebounds and Sacramento State defeated Portland State 63-55 on Thursday night.

Sultan Toles-Bey scored 13 points for the Hornets (6-16, 3-8 Big Sky). Duro Bjegovic pulled down 11 rebounds, but it was his only 3-pointer of the game that put Sacramento State ahead to stay, 50-48, with 7:39 to play. The Hornets had trailed by five midway through the half but outscored the Vikings 20-7 over the final 10 minutes.

Phil Nelson had 12 points to lead five players in double figures for Portland State (11-11, 4-6). Phillip Thomas and Charles Odum both scored 11 points and Melvin Jones and Chris Harriel scored 10 apiece.
