MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Jauwan Scaife had 22 points and Ball State snapped a four-game losing streak with a 72-71 victory over Buffalo on Saturday.
The Cardinals (14-8, 6-3 Mid-American), who had a seven-game win streak prior to their four-game skid, took the lead for good on Jesse Berry’s 3-pointer that made it 68-66 with 4:33 remaining. Randy Davis followed with a layup to extend the lead to four points, and Ball State held on from there.
Buffalo (14-7, 6-3), which had won six straight, had a chance to tie it in the final minute. Trailing 72-70, the Bulls got a steal from Byron Mulkey and, after a time-out, Jawaan Alston was fouled with 43 seconds left. Alston missed the first free throw before making the second to account for the final points of the game.
Zach Filzen led the Bulls with 26 points and five steals, and Titus Robinson added 16 points.
