DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Rayvonte Rice scored 19 points, including the go-ahead basket with 2:17 remaining, as Drake knocked off Northern Iowa 72-69 Saturday.

Rice’s layup put Drake (10-14, 5-8 Missouri Valley) ahead 66-65 and the Bulldogs held on from there, snapping an eight-game Panthers’ win streak and avenging a 69-49 loss to Northern Iowa on Jan. 22.

Kwadzo Ahelegbe led the Panthers (18-7, 9-4) with 26 points. Anthony James added 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Jake Koch had 13 points.

Ben Simons had 12 points and Ryan Wedel 10 for Drake.

Both teams shot 49 percent from the field and combined for just seven turnovers — four from Northern Iowa and three from Drake — in a game that featured 12 lead changes and 13 ties.
