Long Island ends skid against Quinnipiac 84-74

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Julian Boyd scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Long Island snapped a 10-game losing streak against Quinnipiac 84-74 on Saturday.

Four other players reached double figures for the Blackbirds (18-5, 10-2 Northeast Conference) — Kyle Johnson and Jason Brickman each had 15 points, and Jamal Olasewere and David Hicks each added 10.

Quinnipiac overcame a nine-point deficit to lead 55-54 with 13:09 to play. The Blackbirds went on a 13-3 run to lead 67-58 at 8:03 after a basket by Olasewere. Quinnipiac got as close as four points, but the Blackbirds pushed the lead up to 80-69 with 1:02 remaining.

The win was the fourth in a row for the Blackbirds, and the 12th in the past 13 games.

James Johnson scored 24 points, Justin Rutty added 20, and Lance Brown and Jamee Jackson each had 10 for the Bobcats (15-8, 7-5), whose three-game winning streak was snapped.
