VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Brandon Brekke had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Troy Huff and Patrick Mitchell added 16 points each as North Dakota defeated South Dakota 83-73 on Saturday night.
Josh Schuler scored 13 points for the Fighting Sioux (11-10, 4-1 Great West).
Trevor Gruis had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead five players in double-figure scoring for the Coyotes (11-11, 3-2).
North Dakota never trailed after a Schuler free throw gave it an 11-10 lead. South Dakota got within 67-63 with 3:27 to play, but the Fighting Sioux built the cushion back to double digits with the help of 10 free throws down the stretch.
Charlie Westbrook scored 15 points, Jake Thomas 13, Kendall Cutler 12 and Louie Krogman 11 for the Coyotes.
