SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Skiing officials say a World Cup snowboarding event due to be held in South Korea on Tuesday has been canceled after competitors complained about the course.
Event spokesman Ma Seung-woo said Monday that the snowboard cross at Yongpyong ski resort in Pyeongchang was canceled by the ruling FIS after athletes said the course was too difficult and too dangerous.
Ma says a parallel slalom event will go ahead as planned on Wednesday.
The snowboard cross was to be the fourth event of the season. Ma says it will be rescheduled at another venue.
Pyeongchang in eastern South Korea is bidding to host the Winter Olympics in 2018.
