VERNONIA, Ore. (AP) — Columbia County sheriff’s deputies used a stun grenade and a Taser to arrest a domestic violence suspect after a standoff of about four hours early Monday near Vernonia.

The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a report the man had fired a shotgun. He refused to surrender, and deputies surrounded the residence.

They say the stun grenade brought the incident to a safe conclusion shortly before 6 a.m. with the arrest of a 34-year-old man for menacing. He was also wanted on a probation violation warrant in an assault case.
