1st woman prosecutor in Anchorage dead at 59

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The first woman prosecutor in the Anchorage district attorney’s office, Mary Anne Henry, died Sunday in Portland at the age of 59.

The Anchorage Daily News reports she suffered from asthma and died of liver failure due to hepatitis.

The Harvard Law School graduate was hired in 1976 in Anchorage and worked three decades as an assistant district attorney, handling more than 100 jury trials, including more than 20 murder cases. Henry also worked as a district attorney in Ketchikan and prosecutor in Juneau.
