Salem, Ore. police check suspicious device

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Police are investigating a suspicious device found at a major intersection in downtown Salem.

The Statesman Journal reports the device was found shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on the northeast corner of Church and Center streets. No information on the type or description of the device was immediately released.

Businesses along Center and Church streets were asked to lock down and keep people from going into the streets while police investigate.

Oregon State Police and Salem police are on scene.
