BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — The president of the Argentina Football Association says Carlos Tevez was dropped from Wednesday’s game against Portugal in Geneva as punishment for missing the November match against Brazil.
Argentina FA president Julio Grondona said in a radio interview in Buenos Aires that new Argentina coach Sergio Batista was upset that the Manchester City forward played for his club a few days after the Brazil game.
Grondona said Batista had not been impressed by Tevez’s “attitude.”
Argentina’s next game is against the United States on March 26 at East Rutherford, N.J.
