MONROE, Wash. (AP) — A Monroe state Reformatory inmate has reportedly confessed to killing Correctional Officer Jayme Biendl in the prison chapel.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports a search warrant made public Friday says Byron Scherf confessed to detectives on Wednesday in an interview recorded on video.

The 52-year-old says he strangled Biendl Jan. 29 because he was angry with how she has spoken to him a few minutes earlier.
