Schlierenzauer, Evensen share ski jump win

VIKERSUND, Norway (AP) — Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria and new world record holder Johan Remen Evensen of Norway shared first place in a flying hill World Cup event on Saturday.

Evensen jumped 246.5 meters in qualification on Friday to smash the previous world record by seven and a half meters.

Schlierenzauer, a member of Austria’s gold medal-winning Olympic team, led after the first round with a jump of 243.5. But the Norwegian, ranked 13th in the World Cup standings, drew even at 498.6 points after a final round jump of 234.5 meters.

Two-time Olympic champion Simon Ammann of Switzerland was third. World Cup leader Thomas Morgenstern of Austria finished 12th.
