Central Michigan defeats Eastern Michigan 66-60

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Trey Zeigler scored 24 points and Central Michigan held off Eastern Michigan 66-60 Wednesday night.

John Morris and Derek Jackson each added 11 points for the Chippewas (8-17, 5-7 Mid-American Conference), who shot 60 percent in the second half. Antonio Weary had 10 points.

Derek Thompson led the Eagles (7-18, 4-8) with 14 points while Brandon Bowdry had 13 and Darrell Lampley 12.

After trailing by eight early, Central Michigan rallied to take a 26-17 lead with 1:39 left in the first half. Eastern Michigan closed the gap to 26-21 at halftime and twice took the lead in the second half but by only one each time.

Jay Higgins scored on layup with 13:19 to play to put the Chippewas up 32-31, and they led the rest of the way.
