MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have avoided arbitration with Delmon Young by agreeing to a one-year, $5.4 million contract with the 24-year-old outfielder.

The Twins announced the deal Wednesday.

Young batted .298 with 46 doubles, 21 homers and 112 RBIs in 153 games last season. He led the club in hits, doubles and RBIs and was second in games played and home runs.

His 46 doubles were tied for the second-highest single-season total in Twins history.
