KEARNS, Utah (AP) — Dutch speedskater Marrit Leenstra has won the 1,500-meter race for her first World Cup gold medal.

Leenstra edged teammate Ireen Wust by 0.37 seconds at the Utah Olympic Oval on Saturday. A slip by Wust likely cost her the gold.

Leenstra finished in 1 minute, 53.38 seconds. Canada’s Christine Nesbitt was third in 1:54.16. Heather Richardson of the U.S. was fourth in a 1:54.25.

Martina Sablikova fell after American Jilleane Rookard lost her balance and slid in front of Sablikova as they turned midway through their heat. Rookard was disqualified. Sablikova chose not to re-skate and left the arena in pain.

Sablikova beat her own world record to win the 5,000 on Friday.
