Navy rolls past Army 75-58

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Jordan Sugars scored 20 points to lead Navy to a 75-58 victory over Army on Saturday to sweep the season series.

Mark Veazey added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Midshipmen (10-18, 5-7 Patriot League), who also defeated the Black Knights (11-16, 3-9) on Jan. 22. Army has lost five straight and eight of its past nine games.

Navy entered 319th nationally in field-goal percentage at 39.1 percent, but shot 46 percent (23 of 50) and outrebounded Army 47-24.

The Black Knights scored the game’s first 12 points, but Navy took a 19-18 lead and then scored the final 11 points of the first half for a 36-26 halftime advantage.

Veazey scored two consecutive baskets to give the Midshipmen a 47-33 lead with 12:25 to play.

Romeo Garcia added 14 points for Navy.

Ella Ellis scored 13 and Mitch McDonald added 11 for Army, which shot 34.6 percent from the floor (18 of 52).
