Northern Arizona edges Cal Poly 59-56

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — Cameron Jones’ 3-pointer with 1 second remaining gave Northern Arizona a 59-56 victory over Cal Poly on Saturday night in a BracketBusters game.

Jones led the Lumberjacks (16-10) with 19 points, and Eric Platt had 12.

Shawn Lewis had a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs (14-12), who had their six-game win streak snapped. Lewis scored Cal Poly’s final 13 points, which included a 3-pointer to tie it at 56 with 11 seconds remaining. David Hanson added 10 points.

Northern Arizona led 27-23 at the half. The Lumberjacks made 24 of 51 shots (47.1 percent), while the Mustangs connected on 21 of 51 (41.2 percent).

Northern Arizona, the top 3-point shooting team in Division I (43.9 percent) entering the week of play, made 6 of 20 (30 percent), while Cal Poly made just 3 of 16 (18.8 percent) from beyond the arc.
