Valparaiso tops Missouri State 80-67

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Brandon Wood scored 24 points and hot-shooting Valparaiso defeated Missouri State 80-67 Saturday in a BracketBuster game.

Cory Johnson added 13 points and Howard Little had 11 for the Crusaders (20-8), who built a 38-23 lead by halftime. The Crusaders made 58 percent of their shots (32 of 55) while the Bears (21-7) struggled, connecting on just 40 percent (26 of 64) of their field-goal attempts.

Kyle Weems led Missouri State with 17 points, Jermaine Mallett had 14 and Nafis Ricks 11.

Valparaiso dominated the boards, outrebounding Missouri State 39-27.

The Bears got as close as 46-37 with 14:27 remaining.
