SILVERTON, Ore. (AP) — A woman is dead and six people are injured following a crash Saturday evening involving three pickup trucks near Silverton.

The Marion County Sheriff’s office says its preliminary investigation shows the crash began as a Ford pickup turned onto Silverton Road and was hit in the rear by a Nissan pickup.

The department says in a statement that both vehicles then careened into the oncoming lane of Silverton road and collided with a Toyota pickup head-on.

Deputies found the Nissan on its side and engulfed in flames. The 36-year old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the 33-year old driver of the Toyota was in critical condition, while his wife and two children had less serious injuries. The 17-year-old driver of the Ford and his 13-year old sister were treated and released.

No names were released.
