PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say a suspected US missile strike has killed at least five people in a tribal region near the Afghan border.

It was the second missile strike in roughly 24 hours. The first killed seven alleged militants.

The two officials say four missiles hit a house late Monday in Spalga village in the North Waziristan tribal region.

They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to media on the record.

The strike were the first since the arrest of a U.S. citizen who shot two Pakistanis in late January.

There had been speculation Washington had put a hold on the disputed tactic as it has pressured Pakistan to release the American, saying he has diplomatic immunity and acted in self-defense.
