BALTIMORE (AP) — Michael Harper scored 25 points and Coppin State’s shooting got better as the game wore on in an 89-72 victory over Delaware State on Monday night.
The Eagles (14-12, 9-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) shot 58.3 percent in the first 20 minutes (14 of 24) while the Hornets (9-17, 5-8) labored under 8-of-29 shooting (27.6 percent).
Coppin State got hotter in the second half, making 61.3 percent from the field (19 of 31) and 84.6 percent from the line (11 of 13). The Eagles also outrebounded Delaware State 38-26.
Antonio Williams and Michael Murray each added 16 points for the Eagles, who won their eighth in the last 11 games. Each of the three games they lost in that span came by two points.
Desi Washington led Delaware State with 26 points, but made only 8 of 23 shots from the field. The Hornets lost their fourth straight and their eighth in the last nine.
