Oregon Guard general to visit troops in Iraq

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The leaders of Oregon’s National Guard — Maj. Gen. Raymond F. Rees and Sgt. Maj. Brunk Conley — will visit state troops serving in Iraq.

The Statesman Journal reports about 600 soldiers in the 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade, which also includes soldiers from Idaho and Montana, are on convoy duty. Also deployed in Iraq are four pilots, three crew members and a supply sergeant from the Salem-based Alpha Company, 641st Aviation Regiment.
