SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service is forecasting snow for the Western Washington lowlands.
Forecasters say spotty snow showers Tuesday will be followed by a cold air mass bringing heavier snow Wednesday with up to six inches in some locations. Forecasters say snow showers will persist Thursday before things dry out and moderate over the weekend.
Heavy snow fell in the Cascades Monday night. The Washington Transportation Department required chains Tuesday morning for Interstate 90 drivers on Snoqualmie Pass. The Weather Service expects up to two feet of new snow by early Wednesday in the Cascades.
In Eastern Washington, heavy snow is forecast Tuesday in the northeast and southeast corners of the state. Snow showers are likely the rest of the week across Eastern Washington with temperatures 20 degrees below average.
