DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings expect forward Patrick Eaves to be out for at least a week.

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland says Eaves injured “everything but his knee” when he led with his right leg on a check against San Jose’s Torrey Mitchell on Tuesday night.

Eaves got up slowly, tried to keep weight off his right leg as he skated slowly off the ice and limped toward the dressing room. He has 13 goals and 19 points in 52 games this season.

Holland says forward Mike Modano will play Saturday in Buffalo, where forward Valtteri Filppula might also return.

Modano had surgery on his right wrist to repair a tendon sliced by a skate three months ago. Filppula has been out two-plus weeks with an injured left knee.
