BALTIMORE (AP) — Kevin Thompson pulled down 12 rebounds as Morgan State ruled the boards and defeated Delaware State 42-39 Wednesday night in the lowest-scoring game of the season for both teams.
Without a player scoring in double figures, the Bears (15-10, 10-3, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) won their fifth straight by outrebounding Delaware State 42-24. Adam Braswell had nine points to lead Morgan State.
Casey Walker had 17 points for the Hornets (9-18, 5-9), who lost their fifth in a row. They trailed 28-15 at halftime, their biggest deficit, and rallied by holding the Bears to 4-of-19 shooting in the second half (21.1 percent).
Morgan State’s rebounding offset its turnovers — the Bears committed 17 to Delaware State’s nine. But the Hornets made up only three points on those additional miscues (15-12).
