KENT, Ohio (AP) — Carlton Guyton scored 19 points and rallied Kent State to a 72-69 victory over Buffalo on Thursday night.
Guyton, who did not start for the Golden Flashes (19-9, 10-3 Mid-American Conference), scored five points in a 9-0 run to start the second half that brought Kent State within a point, 43-42, after it trailed 43-33 at halftime.
A layup by Guyton gave the Golden Flashes their first lead of the second half, 57-56 with 8 minutes left, and they never relinquished it.
Kent State outshot the Bulls (16-10, 7-6) in the second half 48.1 percent (13 of 27) to 35.5 percent (11 of 31).
