SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The percentage of biodiesel going into diesel fuel sold in Oregon is going up from 2 percent to 5 percent.
The Oregon Department of Agriculture says the reason is that overall production of biodiesel in Oregon has reached 15 million gallons, which triggers the increase in the proportion of biodiesel in regular diesel under the state’s renewable fuel standard.
The increase goes into effect April 1.
The department says it has been investigating complaints that diesel with biodiesel in it gels in cold weather, but has found the samples it has checked meet fuel standards.
